In the main the work called for by Statutory notices was carried
out by the owners but in one case it became necessary for the Local
Authority to carry out work in default under Section 39 of the
Public Health Act, 1936, at a cost of £14 15s. 0d.
PROSECUTIONS.
It became necessary to take proceedings in two cases against owners
of properties for non-compliance with notices served under sections
92/93, Public Health Act, 1936.
At the Petty Sessions Court, on the 4th March, 1954, a Nuisance
Order was made requiring the owner to carry out works to abate
the nuisance within 28 days, and a fine of £1 was imposed.
In the second case, on the 16th December, 1954, a Nuisance Order
was also made for work to be carried out within 28 days, and a fine
of £1 was imposed.
COMPLAINTS.
The number of complaints received from the 1st January to 31st
December, 1954 was 830 which is a decrease of 56 over the same
period in 1953.
