Rent Restriction Act.
No applications were received during the year for Certificates by
occupiers of working class premises, to enable them to suspend the
increase of rent on the grounds that the premises were not in a
reasonable state of repair.
Shops and Offices.
The Public Health Department is responsible for the administration
of Section 10 of the Shops Act 1934, which contains provisions as
to sanitary and other arrangements for the health of the workers
employed in, or about, shops and warehouses.
Only one complaint was received during the year, this was with
reference to the absence of heating and washing arrangements in a
greengrocer's shop.
Notice was served upon the occupier of the premises, who
installed electrical heating and suitable washing facilities.
In connection with Offices, no complaints were received by the
Public Health Department during the year in relation to overcrowding,
cleanliness, ventilation or closet accommodation
