(1) Tuberculosis of Respiratory System, or Consumption.
Twenty-one deaths were due to this disease as compared with 27
in 1924. Although there are still numbers of these cases notified,
I think that on the whole they are not so numerous as previously
in spite of the fact that housing conditions are not satisfactory.
The number or deaths in the last five years was as follows:—
1921 | 27 |
1922 | 22 |
1923 | 40 |
1924 | 27 |
1925 | 21 |
(2) Cancer. There were 62 deaths from this disease during
the year as compared with 84 in 1924. The deaths from this
disease have undoubtedly gone up in the last few years, partly owing
to better diagnosis, etc. The Ministry of Health have issued
circulars regarding this disease and efforts are being made not only
to find the causation and better curative measures, but also to let
the general public know what can be done if only the disease is
discovered early.
1921 64
1922 58
1923 64
1924 84
1925 62
(3) Respiratory Diseases. The deaths from these diseases,
viz., Bronchitis, Pneumonia and other respiratory diseases number
70 as compared with 74 in 1924.
