FOOD COMPLAINTS
47 complaints about food were received during 1964. This is a record
number and shows that the public have become aware of the protection
afforded them by their Council. They are thus responding to the efforts
and publicity of the Health Department.
All complaints were fully investigated and most showed up various
defects in food preparation and in retail housekeeping. The Department
was thus able to see that these matters were rectified. Many of them
would have remained undiscovered but for the co-operation of the public.
Legal Proceedings under the Food & Drugs Act, 1955 for the sale of food which was not of the nature, quality or substance demanded.
