Petrol leakage was suspected at one garage. The five underground
storage tanks were tested and all found to be defective. The licence
to store petrol was withdrawn; the tanks were emptied and then filled with
water as an interim safety measure pending their removal.
All licensed petrol atarage tanks over 20 years old are now being
tested under departmental control.
