12.
Food Hygiene
All food premises in the borough received close attention from
the Health Inspectors.
Vaccination
Primary vaccinations against smallpox totalled 3,775 (520 in 196l)
and re-vaccinations 4,813 (162 in 196l). This vast increase in the
number of persons vaccinated and revaccinated resulted from the
importation of smallpox cases from abroad during December 1961 and
January 1962.
National Assistance Act, 1948
(a) Section 47: Care of Aged and Chronic Sick. No cases needed
statutory action under Section 47. In several instances the provision
of a home help obviated the need for hospital care or admission to an
old persons' home.
(b) Section 50: No burials were arranged by the Council under this
section.
Medical Examinations
During the year 142 examinations were carried out by me in respect
of Chingford Council staff and 38 in respect of staff of the Essex County
Council.
