Legal Proceedings
Eight cases were taken before the Magistrates under Section 9 of the
Act, six in relation to extraneous matters found in foodstuffs and two
cases in connection with the mouldy condition of meat patties and cream buns
Two cases were dismissed, one ..relating to a small piece of wire in a
boiled sweet and in this instance-the Magistrates felt that every care had
been taken by the defendant to secure a wholesome product. In the case of
the mouldy condition of the meat patties the Magistrates were not satisfied
with certain conflicting evidence as to the actual purchase.

Byelaws - Handling, Wrapping and Delivery of Food
Progress has continued in the maintenance of hygienic conditions in
food premises in relation to these Byelaws.
593 visits were paid to food premises including restaurants and
other food-preparing premises.
Inspection of Meat and Other Foods.
There is one private licensed slaughter-house in the Borough which
is not in normal use, and twenty-six butchers' shops. The visits paid
to these premises numbered 116.
The following list gives details of the diseased or unsound meat
and other articles found unfit for human consumption, which were voluntarily
surrendered and destroyed or used for animal feeding purposes, or returned
to the Ministry of Pood for processing purposes:-
