Child Life Protection.
All the Health Visitors were appointed Child Life Protection Visitors, and
each visitor was responsible for carrying out the supervision of the foster
homes in her own district.

Care of Premature Babies.
Two special cots for the care of premature babies were kept at the
Hollies Ambulance Depot and were available in an emergency day or night.
Five calls were received for these cots.
Adoption of Children (Regulation) Act, 1939.
General supervision in cases of adoption was carried out in accordance
with the Act.
Orthopaedic Treatment of Children.
Children requiring massage, orthopaedic treatment or remedial exercises
were referred to the Art School, Church Road, Teddington, and to the West
Middlesex County Hospital.
Nursing Homes.
On the 5th July, 1948, the powers of the Corporation under the
Public Health Act, 1936, for the registration of nursing homes reverted to the
County Council.
There were fifteen registered private nursing homes in the borough. All
the homes were kept under periodic supervision during the period under
review.
