Midwifery Acts.
The total number of midwives employed at the 4th July, 1948, was nine.
Care of Expectant Mothers.
The number of sessions devoted to this work was:-
York House centre Two sessions weekly.
Whitton centre Three sessions weekly.
Teddington centre Two sessions weekly.
Hampton centre One session, first, third and
fourth week of each month.
Hampton Wick centre One session weekly.

Certain foods were supplied to expectant mothers for whom special
treatment was ordered. These foods were supplied free in necessitous cases.
Vitamin preparations, as supplied by the Ministry of Food to expectant
mothers, continued to be distributed for each ante.natal clinic.
No request for the services of a consultant was made during the year.
The scheme whereby expectant mothers were given facilities for chest
X.ray at Hounslow Chest Clinic continued to prove satisfactory. The total
number who were X.rayed during the period 1st January, 1948, to 4th July,
1948, was 158, and of these 8 were found to be in need of further observation
and/or treatment. The fee payable by the Council is £1 1s. Od. per patient.
