INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
Milk Supply
At the closc of the year there were registered under
the Milk and Dairies (Amendment) Act, 1922, and the Milk and
Dairies Order, 1936:-

The bulk of the, milk supply of the Borough continues to
come from outside the area and has been pasteurised before the
delivery.
110 visits were paid to dairies, milkshops and cowshcds
Milk Sampling
Seventy informal samples of milk were taken during the
year for bacteriological examination, or for the purpose of
ascertaining whether pasteurisation had been efficiently carried
out. 63 were found to be satisfactory, and 7 unsatisfactory.
Further samples were taken from the 7 unsatisfactory sources, and
this proved to be satisfactory.
Milk in Schools Scheme
.All milk used in the schools under this scheme is
pasteurised.

During the year the following licences were granted for
the sale of designated milk:-
