PUERPERAL PYREXIA
Fourteen cases of Puerperal Pyrexia occurred during the
year and of these two only were domiciliary confinements one of
which was admitted to West Middlesex County Hospital, and the
other treated at home. The remaining twelve cases were treated in
the Institutions where they occurred. All patients recovered.
POST NATAL CARE
Post-natal core is carried out at the ante-natal clinics
and mothers are urged to attend. The numbers are as follows

Two maternal deaths occurred during the year 1946.
BIRTH CONTROL AND GYANECOLOGICAL CASES
No birth control clinic is hold in the Borough, but
arrangements have been made with the Birth Control Clinics at
Hounslow for mothers to receive advice on "family spacing" and
gynaecological complaints. In necessitous cases the Corporation
undertakes responsibility for payment for consultations and
appliances.
HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION
During 1946, six patients wore admitted to 16, The
Park, Golders Green, for their confinements, and eleven to the
post-natal home at Hendon. The cost of these arrangements is
borne by the Corporation, the contribution payable by the patient
being assessed according to the Council's Scale of Assistance

HEALTH VISITORS
During the year the approved establishment of Health
Visitors was increased to fifteen - including the Superintendent
Health Visitor - although due to changes in the personnel this
number was not maintained. They also carried out the duties of school
nurses on behalf of the Middlesex County Council. The following

Visits were also paid to children of school age in cases
of suspected infectious diseases and to follow up those recommended
for medical treatment or observation. The Health Visitors also
attended as required at minor ailment, ophthalmic and dental
clinics.
