MILK AND OTHER FOODS, ETC.
During the year, 41 applications for assisted supplies of
dried milk and other foods were granted in necessitous cases and
supplied free of charge. The total cost of goods supplied was
£24:16:4½d.
CHILD LIFE PROTECTION
There were a few instances where foster mothers failed to
send proper notice of reception or removal of a foster-child.
All the Health Visitors are appointed Child Life
Protection Visitors and each visitor is responsible for carrying
out the supervision of the foster homes in her own district. The
number of visits paid to foster children during the year was 551.

CARE OF ER EMATURB BABIES
Two special cots for care of the premature anr. feeble
baby were purchased during the year. The apparatus consist of two
sets (for twins if necessary) of:-
Asbestos stand heated by two electric lamps and/or three
hot water bottles.
Draught-proof cot with mattress.
Gamgee cloak for baby.
Special feeding bottle.
Thermometer for recording temperature of cot.
Blankets.
Masks for attendants.
The cots are kept ready at the Hollies Ambulance Depot so
that they may be called on in an emergency day or night. The draughtproof
cots can be taken from the stands if it is found necessary for
the baby to be removed to hospital.
The service is proving very satisfactory.
MINISTRY OF HEALTH CIRCULAR 2866.
In accordance with this Circular, the Corporation will, in
certain cases, undertake the maintenance of children living apart from
their parents. The payment is 3/9 per day - the parents' contribution
being assessed in accordance with the Corporation's Scale of Assistance
This scheme is restricted to bona-fide residents of Twickenham.
