POST GRADUATE EDUCTION
Two Health Visitors attended the Winter School held at
Bedford College which was organised by the Women Public Health
Officers* Association and one Health Visitor attended the Preliminary
Teaching Course under the auspices of the Women Public Health Officers'
Association. The Midwives attended a post-graduate course at the
County Hall.
PROMOTION OF CLEANLINESS, ETC
The scheme for head rnd cleanliness inspections in the
schools worked satisfactorily during the year. In addition the
health visitors continued the methods of persuasion, advice and
counsel in the promotion of cleanliness and good habits and the
elimination of verminous conditions. Suitable pamphlets were also
distributed at the Infant Welfare Centres.
INFANT WELFARE CLINICS

There are five Infant Welfare Clinics; ten sessions for infant consultation are held weekly and one breast feeding clinic.

CONVALESCENT TREATMENT
Children under five were recommended for convalescant
treatment at a cost to the Corporation of £113:12:3d. The parents'
contribution being assessed in accordance with the Council's Scale
of Assistance.
DENTAL TREATMENT OF CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS
During the year, the numbers of children under 5 years
of age who received dental treatment were:-

OPHTHALMIC TREATMENT OF CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS
During the year, the numbers of children under 5 years of
ago examined by the Ophthalmic Surgeon were:-
First attendance 49
Total attendances 102
Dental and Ophthalmic treatment are free to children under
five.
