Maternal Mortality.
During the year 1938, four women died from conditions associated with
pregnancy or childbirth. The maternal mortality rate per 1,000 total (live
and still) births was 2.7, compared with 2.97 for England and Wales.
Infantile Mortality.
The deaths of infants under one year of age during 1938 numbered G4,
producing an infantile mortality rale of 45.8 per 1,000 live births. The rate
for England and Wales was 53.
