Smoke Abatement.
Occasional complaints regarding smoke nuisances were received during
the year, every one of which was thoroughly investigated by a Sanitary
Inspector. It was not found necessary to take statutory action under the
Public Health Act with regard to any of these cases.
Swimming Baths and Pools.
There Arc three open-air swimming baths within the borough, all of which
are owned by the Corporation.
The water in the baths is frequently tested to determine the amount of
treatment necessary and the maintenance of a high standard from the
bacteriological aspect.
Eradication of Bed Bugs.

The methods of disinfestation employed were set out in the report for
last vcar. During the year under review the insecticide solutions used were
"Keritox" and "Zaldecide."
No application was received from the Housing Department with regard
to the disinfestation of the belongings of persons before their removal to
Council houses.
An employee of the Corporation undertakes the work of disinfestation
under the direct supervision of the Sanitary Inspectors. The latter give
advice to the tenants as to the measures necessary for preventing infestation or re-infection
