Public Mortuary.
During the year 44 bodies were brought into the Mortuary. Twenty-four post-mortem
examinations were made and 24 inquests were held.
A refrigerating cabinet capable of receiving two bodies was provided during the early
part of the year, and the improvement effected by this change, which would have been a striking
one during an ordinary summer, was particularly welcome during the prolonged heat which was
experienced during the summer of 1933.
The provision of the refrigerating cabinet not only improves the conditions under which
post-mortem examinations of bodies can be carried out, but the fact that it is now possible to
preserve almost indefinitely the conditions of bodies brought in might be of very great value in
medico-legal cases.
The other minor alterations which were carried out have also improved to a certain extent
the conditions under which the necessarily unpleasant work of post-mortem examinations has
to be carried out.

Nursing in the Home.
General. The Nurses of the Twickenham Nursing Association continued the home nursing
of persons who were suffering from those diseases for the nursing of which the Council is able to
make provision. Two whole-time nurses are now employed and the part-time services of a
third nurse are requisitioned at times. The Council contributed £100 to the Association for
these services.
