Section E. Food and Drugs Act, 1938
One hundred and thirty samples of food were submitted to the Public
Analyst. It is again pleasing to record that adulterations were low, there
being only one case of note.
A sample of sausages purchased from one of the smaller multiple
stores showed a deficiency of meat to the extent of 20 per cent. This
sample being an informal one, a second and formal one was obtained, which
showed a deficiency of 10 per cent. This latter sample was purchased in
December and the Certificate of the Public Analyst was received too late
for the Committee to deal with in 1949.
The following is a list of the food samples analysed during the year, together with the number of samples of each kind obtained:—
Sausages | 3 | Bacon | 9 |
