11. CARAVAN SITES.
Inspection has been carried out at the 9 licenced sites in the
area, and in all cases they were found to be maintained satisfactorily. No
complaints regarding these sites have been received during the year.
12. AIR POLLUTION.
Routine checks on air pollution have been carried out during the
year and do not indicate any increase in suspended matter or so2 in the
district. No serious pollution has arisen from industrial furnace
installations in the area, although the burning of garden refuse still
gives rise to complaints from neighbours affected by smoke and smuts which
calls for tactful handling by the inspector to avoid friction whilst
mitigating, as far as practicable, these nuisances.
