The response to both the B.C.G. Vaccination and Tuberculosis
Case Finding schemes maintain a satisfactory level and is to
some extent encouraging in that the lesser prevalence of
Tuberculosis is not causing apathy towards the echemes.
The staffing position in the School Dental Service remained
unaltered and the provision of a satisfactory service in all
districts continued. The position of the service provided in
the Chigwell Urban District at 31st December, 1963, is as
follows:-
Buckhurst Way Clinic 2 sessions per week.
Manford Way Clinic 4 " " "
Loughton Hall Clinic 19 " " "
Cleanliness Surveys.
Routine surveys were again carried out at the start of the
Spring and Autumn terms. Discovery of infestation occurred in
35 cases (0.18%) out of the total of 19,829 pupils inspected
and none of these required any further action as the parents
cleansed the children satisfactorily by following the advice of
the School Nurse.
In addition to the routine survey, observation was kept on
those pupils whose previous history indicates the keeping of a
close watch desirable. It has not been necessary to send a
pupil to be cleansed since 1960.
Specialist Services.
There has been no change in the Ophthalmic, Orthoptic,
Orthopaedic and Physiotherapy services provided by the North
East Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board at Clinics in this
Division.
