Disinfecting is carried out by spraying and fumigating with
"Formalin." Clothes, bedding, etc., are steam disinfected.
22 cases of Scarlet Fever and 4 cases of Diphtheria were
admitted to the Waltham Joint Hospital, Waltham Abbey, for
treatment. Quite a number of the cases of Scarlet Fever were very
slight which accounts for the large number nursed at home. There is
growing tendency for doctors not to send mild cases to hospital where
it is possible for the patient to be properly looked after at home.
The number of cases of Pneumonia notified continues to decrease.
There were 5 this year as against 8 in 1936.
Immunization against Diphtheria is still being carried out if
desired, 69 children being done during the year.
The total number of deaths from Infectious Disease, excluding
Tuberculosis, show a slight increase, 15 as against 12 in 1936.
