4. Tubercular Meat.—There was none seized, but 117 lbs.
were surrendered during the year.

The slaughter-houses as a whole are unsatisfactory.
Two licenced slaughter-houses have been improved during
1923.
During 1922, the Bye-laws with regard to pig-keeping which
had been relaxed during the war were put into force again after
six months' notice having been given.

I am indebted to Dr. J. Tate, County Medical Officer, for
the following report prepared by Mr. Robinson, the Chief Officer
of the Public Control Department, as to the samples purchased in
this area during 1923.
