Result of Service of Notices.
(a) Legal proceedings.
As a result of non-compliance with abatement notices legal proceedings
were started in nine cases. In seven instances nuisance
orders were made, and in the remaining two cases the summonses were
withdrawn as the work had been started. The costs awarded amounted
to £15. 14s. 6d.
(b) Work carried out in default.
Two dustbins were supplied by the Corporation in default of the
owners.
The Corporation executed necessary works to abate nuisances in
four cases where nuisance orders had been made by the Court but
had not been complied with by the owners.

The following table gives a summary of the nuisances abated and the sanitary improvements carried out, together with the defects remedied under the supervision of the sanitary inspectors :—
