(b) Work carried out in default.
In two cases where nuisance orders had been made by the
Court but had not been complied with by the owners, the Corporation
executed the necessary works to abate the nuisances.
In two cases work was carried out by the Corporation in
default of the owners under Section 39, and in one case under Section
56, of the Public Health Act, 1936.
Six dustbins were supplied by the Corporation in default of the
owners.
Nuisances abated and defects remedied.

The following table gives a summary of the nuisances abated and the sanitary improvements carried out, together with the defects remedied under the supervision of the sanitary inspectors:—

Work executed by the Borough Surveyor and rechargeable under
