Refuse Collection.—The motor lorries used for the
collection of house refuse are fitted with covers which securely
enclose the refuse, thus preventing the usual nuisances connected
with the open type of lorry.
An additional covered vehicle has been purchased to
supplement the existing fleet.
Street Gully Cleansing.—The gullies are emptied and
re-sealed with fresh water by means of a mechanical vehicle.
The detritus is drawn straight into a sealed tank in the
machine, thus obviating the practice of allowing the detritus
to lie in the channels until collected.
