Births.—The statistics supplied by the Registrar-General
show that during 1932 the total number of registered live
births belonging to Wimbledon amounted to 667 (335 males
and 332 females). This gives a birth rate equal to 11.22 per
thousand of the population. Thirty-two (or 4.79 per cent.)
of the births were illegitimate. Of this number, fifteen were
males and seventeen females. In addition, twelve stillbirths
(seven males and five females) were registered.
The following table gives the birth rates in Wimbledon
for the past ten years, together with the comparative figures
for England and Wales. It will be noted that the birth rate
in Wimbledon shows a slight increase over the figure for
the previous year.
