Forty-eight children were medically examined for employment
during the year. They were all granted medical certificates of
fitness for delivering newspapers and for work in connection
with milk rounds.
Two prosecutions were taken under the Bye-Laws for
illegal employment, with the following results:—
One parent—summons dismissed on payment of costs.
One employer—fined 10/-.
21. SPECIAL ENQUIRIES.
No special enquiries were undertaken in 1932.
22. HEALTH PROPAGANDA.
During the year, 2,000 copies of "Better Health" were
issued monthly in Wimbledon. 1,070 of these copies were
distributed every month to the schools.
This publication deals with simple health matters, and
there are many indications of the interest with which it is
received.
Short articles on health topics were contributed regularly
by the Public Health Department.
There has been considerable sickness amongst the School
Nurse-Health Visiting Staff during 1932 and the work has been
carried on under difficulties. In spite of this, steady progress
has been maintained.
I desire to take this opportunity of expressing my appreciation
of the loyal co-operation which I have received from all
the members of the staff during the year under review.
I am,
Your obedient servant,
HAROLD ELLIS.
