One boy and two girls were notified for this purpose.
In other cases, where the home influence is good and the
prospect of employment favourable, the names are passed on
to the Committee of the Guild of Social Welfare which acts in
Wimbledon as the Local Oommittee of the Surrey Voluntary
Association for Mental and Physical Welfare.
Two boys and two girls who were not attending any school
and who were unsuitable for the Special School were also notified
to the Local Authority under Article 2 of the Mental Deficiency
(Notification of Children) Regulations, 1928.
Of the two boys who left on attaining the age of sixteen
years one is being trained as a shoemaker, and the other for work
in a match factory. Furthermore, one of the boys who attended
the Littleton Street Special School, and who attained the age
of sixteen years during 1932 has been satisfactorily employed as
an. errand boy.
Of the five girls who attained school-leaving age one is
working at a laundry, another is engaged in domestic service,
whilst a third is doing domestic work at home. The two girls
who were notified as requiring supervision are at home, and it
is not likely that they will obtain satisfactory employment.
18. NURSERY SCHOOLS.
No Nursery Schools have been established in Wimbledon.
The Municipal Day Nursery, however, has accommodation for
thirty toddlers under five years of age.
