Acts (Amendment) Act, 1907, declaring certain trades
to be offensive. Dated 14th January, 1914.
Order of Town Council, under Shops Acts, 1912 and 1913,
relating to Second-hand Clothes' Dealers. Dated 5th
November, 1913.
The Wimbledon General Half-Holiday Order, 1914. 6th June,

SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
The following information is supplied by the Borough
Surveyor, Mr. T. Webster:—
General Sanitary Conditions of the Area—Good.
Refuse Removal:—The Corporation have five motor
lorries in use and contemplate the purchase of an additional
one. These vehicles are still proving to be a marked success
Doth from an economical and sanitary point of view. During
the last financial year the quantity of refuse collected has
increased considerably, causing the present destructor to be
worked at its full capacity.
The Committee concerned are now considering the purchase
of the latest type of gully emptier which, it is hoped,
will be a great improvement on the present manual method
of emptying the street gullies.
Housing, under Municipal Schemes:—During the past
year five houses have been built in Birkbeek Road by the
Corporation. They are built of brick and are of the nonparlour
type. These have been sold under the Small Dwellings
Acquisition Act.
On the Durnsford Road site, previously used for allotments,
forty-four houses, in ten blocks of four and two
semi-detached blocks, and forty-eight flats, in four blocks
of twelve have been built by the Corporation, and arc just
completed.
