Births:—
The number of births registered in the district was 838
(407 males and 431 females), an increase of four over last year,
and equal to a birthrate of 14.4 on a population of 58,000.
The corrected birthrate produced by transferable births notified
to us by the Registrar General is 14.9. 38 (or 4.3 per cent.) of
the births were illegitimate.
Notification of Births Act, 1907:—
During the year 707 births were notified by the following
persons:—Parents, 100; Midwives, 525; Doctors, 64; other
persons, 18. Twenty three notifications of Still-births were
received.
Deaths:—
The total number of deaths registered in the district was
439 (183 males, 256 females) equal to a death rate of 7.5 per
thousand of the population (R.G) per annum.
The deaths occurring outside the district of persons belonging
to this Borough were 172, viz.:—
Kingston and District General Hospital 74
Brookwood Asylum, Woking 12
Nelson Hospital, Merton 15
Others 71
Total 172
