In July several articles from the handicraft department, made by under-21 trainees, were
entered in the Waltham Forest Youth Exhibition, open to all schools and youth clubs, and many
1st, 2nd and 3rd awards were obtained, scoring the highest number of points and therefore winning
the cup to hold for one year. In September a variety of articles were entered in the Waltham Forest
Exhibition for handicapped persons and gained two 1st, four 2nd and four 3rd awards.
Also in September the trainees were taken on an outing with a two hour coach ride through
Essex, finishing at Grange Farm, Chigwell, for lunch and games in the afternoon.
The centre is now very overcrowded but, despite ihe problems this involves, the staff have
worked well and managed to keep the centre running smoothly and happily.
The staff at both centres are to be congratulated on their devoted and skilled work throughout
the year.
