Of the 814 intimation notices served, 285 were in respect of
business premises and the remainder (529) related to defects in
private houses. Of the latter figure, 380 were complied with
without resort to statutory procedure.
It was found necessary to institute legal proceedings against
owners for non-compliance with 15 Abatement Notices. Nine
Orders were made by the Justices with costs amounting to
£20 5s. Od. and fines of £15 10s. Od. and in one case penalties of
£57 and £2 2s. Od. costs were given. In four instances the
summonses were withdrawn, and one summons was adjourned
sine die.
