During the year three inspections were made by the medical
staff. No difficulties in regard to supervision arose.
Routine enquiries are made with regard to unregistered homes.
9. Essex County Council, Act, 1933 (Establishments for massage
and special treatment).
No new licence was granted under the Act during 1957.
During the year the medical staff paid 12 visits to the establishments
registered for massage and special treatment.
C—SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA
Water.—The authority responsible is the Metropolitan Water
Board. Routine tests are carried out by the Board, and the usual
practice was continued of notifying the Board of all actual or
suspected cases of enteric fever. The Board then arranged special
tests at the addresses concerned. All were negative in 1957. All
dwelling houses in the area are supplied direct with piped water.
Mr. W. Richards, Chief Public Health Inspector, contributes
the following :—-
Staff.
Mr. S. E. Muggeridge, District Public Health Inspector,
resigned early in the year and Mr. E, J. Wilkins, Public Health
Inspector, Luton, was appointed in his place.
Mr. B. Goode, Pupil Public Health Inspector with the Council
qualified in July, and was appointed Public Health Inspector in
August.
Two Pupil Public Health Inspectors were appointed during
the year, both resigned in December without qualifying. Two new
pupils are being appointed early next year.
