Scarlet Fever at Handsworth Avenue Day Nursery. Three
cases of scarlet fever occurred in October. All parents were
advised and all staff and children were swabbed. Five carriers
were excluded. Daily visits were made by the medical staff until
no further cases occurred.
NURSERIES AND CHILD MINDERS (REGULATION)
ACT, 1948
There were no registrations under the above Act during 1955.
DAILY GUARDIAN SCHEME
This Scheme was begun in May, 1951, and Guardians are paid
a retaining fee of 1/ per day (6d. per half day), by the County
Council, whilst they are caring for a child. Guardians are approved
subject to a satisfactory Health Visitor's report.
