Notification and Isolation of Scarlet Fever ; details of outbreak at Sidney
Burnell Infants' School ; reference to high infectivity and streptococcal
carriers, criteria for home nursing and school exclusion ;
Night Attendance upon the Sick, new facilities ;
Duty arrangements, Medical Officer of Health and Deputy Medical
Officer of Health, availability outside office hours ;
District Nurses' Home, transfer to Carisbrooke Road and previous telephone
number.
Three members of the Borough Council served on the Group
Hospital Management Committee and in addition the Medical
Officer of Health served as a member of the Group Medical
Advisory Committee and one of its representatives on the Hospital
Management Committee.
During the year the Chairman of the Hospital Management
Committee arranged for a questionnaire to be sent to all General
Practitioners in the area served by the Group Hospitals and later
convened a meeting of Consultants, General Practitioners and
Medical Officers of Health to discuss liaison between the Hospital
and General Practitioner Services.
3. Laboratory Facilities.
Laboratory investigations are done at the Public Health Laboratory,
at St. Margaret's Hospital, Epping. There is a morning collection
Mondays to Fridays, with a special collection on Saturdays
on request. Specimens are taken by van to the Laboratory at
Epping. There is a collecting box at the Town Hall for specimens
from family doctors.
Dr. Frank Marsh, Pathologist in charge of the Laboratory at Epping, has kindly supplied the following information in regard to work done for Walthamstow :—
