B.— GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES
IN THE BOROUGH.
1. Public Health Officers of the Authority
The names and qualifications of the Senior Public Health
officers employed by the Authority are given at the beginning of
the Report.
The following changes in the officers employed by the
Authority took place during the year :—
Appointments :
R. A. Begley, Sanitary Inspector—1.3.54.
F. G. Parker, Clerical Staff (temporary)—26.7.54.
E. W. Searle, Driver/Disinfector—30.7.54.
A. J. Goffin, Sanitary Inspector—31.8.54.
Resignations :
H. F. Lewiston, Driver/Disinfector—3.7.54.
2. Integration of Health Services.
This matter was referred to in the Report for 1953 and the
various arrangements then referred to continued during 1954.
Circular letters were addressed to General Practitioners on seven
occasions and referred to fifteen items, the subject matter being as
follows: —
Bacillary Dysentery at Forest Road Junior Mixed School and suggested
action ;
B.C.G. Vaccination of Schoolchildren and co-operation of family doctors ;
Laundry Service for the Incontinent, details of new service ;
Annual Reports, availability of copies to family doctors ;
Food poisoning, bacteriological diagnosis by faecal and rectal specimens;
Health Visitors, liaison with family doctors ;
Deputy Medical Officer of Health, private telephone number ;
Penicillin Reactions, advice to Home Nurses ;
District Nurses' Home, temporary change of address and new telephone
number ;
The General Practitioner and the Health Visitor, invitation to meeting
at the Town Hall ;
Rheumatoid Arthritis, availability of handbook issued by the Empire
Rheumatism Council ;
