The ratio of deaths in non-notified cases (i.e., columns to the
right of the double line) to total deaths from tuberculosis was
1 to 5.5.
Non-Notification.

Four deaths registered in 1953 from tuberculosis had not
previously been notified and details are given below
Case (1)—Male aged 38 years, admitted to hospital June, 1952,
when tuberculosis was diagnosed and the patient
transferred to another hospital, where he died on
the 14th April, 1953 from pulmonary tuberculosis
and carcinoma of the stomach.
Case (2)—Male aged 51 years, admitted to hospital on 15th
April, 1953, died 26th April. Had suffered from
chronic bronchitis for 10 years and had been off
work and bedridden for 5 months before death.
Cause of the death was considered to be primarily
carcinoma of the Bronchus, and tuberculous
broncho pneumonia was only found at post mortem
