all of whom were under the supervision of Home Teachers.
During the year seven blind persons participated in the Home
Workers' Scheme operated through the agency of the Royal
London Society for the Blind, and two blind persons were
employed in the Workshops for the Blind. In addition, there
were twenty-four blind and nine partially sighted persons in
open industry.
"The Council's Schemes for welfare services for other
handicapped persons, including the deaf and dumb and those
hard of hearing have, since the last report, been approved by
the Minister of Health and such services will be provided
(with the co-operation of voluntary agencies) as the Authority
may find to be necessary or desirable in the light of experience
during the transitional stages of operation, during which a full
survey of the needs of the Administrative County in this
respect will be carried out.
