(i) Convalescence.—During 1953, eight children were sent
away on medical recommendation to convalescent homes. As in
previous years the arrangements were normally made through the
local branch of the Invalid Children's Aid Association. In addition,
a nursing mother and her baby were sent away for a period of
convalescence.
