Camping Sites.
There are no authorised sites in the area. The caravan
dwellers at Higham Hill still remain.
Smoke Abatement.
Complaints were received and investigations carried out
relating to thirteen premises. Of these, ten were in respect
of boiler plants burning solid fuel; one oil; one trade refuse
(sawdust) incinerator and one Refuse Destructor.
Smoke observations were carried out where necessary and
warnings or advice given.
Five written intimations were sent.
One boiler plant was replaced with new, and one completely
modernised.
Eradication of Bed Bugs, etc.
The number of houses reported to be verminous still
remains comparatively small.
Ninety rooms were fumigated with DDT smoke or sprayed
with DDT solution. Insecticides were issued free of charge
to tenants of 65 premises.
