" In addition, two blind persons are employed in the
Workshops for the Blind and during the year two were placed
in employment (open industry), the total number of Waltham
stow residents so employed now being 17.
" On three occasions during the year it became necessary
for the Borough Council to make application under Section 47
of the National Assistance Act, 1948, for the removal of aged
persons to suitable accommodation. The persons concerned
would not voluntarily undertake to go into a residential home,
and the necessity to take Court action was for the reason only
of securing for the person the care and attention needed."
