(i) Orthopaedic and Postural Defects.—Details of the work
done under the scheme are given in the section dealing with
Defective Children.

(j) Heart Disease and Rheumatism.—The following is a report of the work done at the Rheumatism Clinic during 1947:—

(k) Tuberculosis.—The number of school children examined
during the year was 179 boys and 113 girls, of which 31 boys
and 28 girls were referred by the School Medical Staff. 81 of these
cases were sent by private practitioners and 152 were examined
as contacts.
(i) Artificial Sunlight Treatment.—The number of children
treated was 267, making 2,954 attendances.
8. INFECTIOUS DISEASES
Notification in the 5-15 years age group during 1947 was as
follows, the figures for 1946 being shown in parenthesis: Scarlet
Fever, 175 (125); Diphtheria, nil (18); Pneumonia, 20 (12);
Erysipelas, 2 (nil); Cerebrospinal Meningitis, 1 (2); Measles,
388 (171); Whooping Cough, 62 (46); Dysentery, nil (9);
Anterior Poliomyelitis, 8 (nil).
