There was a total number of 59 cases of acute otorrhoea and
13 of these were among the pre-school age group. In all, 49 cases
were cured after treatment, three were still under treatment at the
end of the year, two were referred to hospital for operation and
five lapsed treatment. The earliest possible cure of the acute
discharging ear is of the utmost importance to prevent chronicity.
The French method of Diastolisation for such nasal affections
as rhinitis, nasal catarrh, mouth-breathing, catarrhal deafness, etc.,
has been extensively employed during the year. In all, 159 cases
have received this treatment. We can strongly commend its use
in suitable cases.
Two special Aural sessions were held at the School for the
Deaf and where necessary special treatment has been provided.
The general health of the children attending the clinic has
been found satisfactory and we have not noticed any signs of
malnutrition or debility.
