FACILITIES FOR CONFINEMENT
The table below gives details of "future bookings" at the
end of the month stated.
The peak months for Thorpe Coombe bookings were June to
October, for District bookings October to December, and for total
bookings October and November.

Since the end of the year bookings have declined sharply and at the time of writing (June, 1947)it has become possible to remove aill restrictions on bookings at Thorpe Coombe.

PUERPERAL PYREXIA
Thirty-three cases of Puerperal Pyrexia were notified during
1946. The notifications were received from the following sources:—
Maternity Hospital 19
Hospitals outside the area 9
General Practitioners 5*
* All were in Hospital or admitted except one.
The Puerperal Pyrexia rate for 1946 was 12.62 per 1,000 births
as compared with 18.08 in 1945, and the mortality due to puerperal
sepsis was nil.

The Registrar-General has issued the following rates with regard to the notification of Puerperal Pyrexia. The Walthamstow rates are set out in comparison.
