finements since the hospital was opened in May, 1934, to the end
of December, 1945 is now 8,314.
The number of infants born this year was 1,017. This includes
20 cases of twins, a percentage of 1.98 relative to the total number
of confinements, and one case of triplets.
There were 156 ante-natal admissions; 76 of these were patients
admitted for observation and discharged because not in labour.
The other 80 cases, representing 8 per cent, of the total number of
confinements, were admitted for treatment or rest.
In addition there were 7 post-natal admissions; 4 cases of miscarriage
and 7 babies admitted from the district.
The attendances at the ante-natal clinic were well maintained,
1,190 cases, making 9,882 attendances. The attendance of 667
patients at the post-natal clinic was a percentage of 67 as compared
with 68 last year.
There were 25 unbooked cases admitted this year.
A summary of the work of the hospital is given below. A full
statistical clinical report has been prepared as usual and is available
for reference.
