Mr. E. Sharp, Vaccination Officer for the area, has furnished the following return for 1945:—

In addition to the above, 23 primary vaccinations were recorded,
and 13 re-vaccinations.
During 1945, the vaccinal condition of all school children
examined at Routine Medical Inspection was recorded, and a summary
of the findings for the year showed that 20.8 per cent, were
vacpinated.
PREVENTION OF BLINDNESS.
No action was necessary under Section 176 of the Public Health
Act, 1936, for the prevention of blindness or the treatment of persons
suffering from any disease of, or injury to, the eyes.
SMALLPOX.
No notifications were received, and the usual steps were taken
in the supervision of contacts from abroad.
SCARLET FEVER.
A total of 270 cases of Scarlet Fever was notified in 1945 as
compared with 176 in 1944.
