Camping Sites.
There were no sites in the area used as camping sites.
There are, however, several van dwellers in the Higham Hill
area.
Smoke Abatement.
The use of war-time fuel gave rise to a few complaints
which were investigated. Remedial measures were carried
out as far as practicable.
Eradication of Bed Bugs, etc.—The free issue of insecticides
was continued, and a number of premises were dealt with at the
request of the War Damage Officer.
Swimming Baths and Pools.—The model bye-laws of the
Ministry of Health were adopted during 1938.
(a) Municipal Baths, High Street.—This is a covered swimming
bath. Mr. W. Cantes kindly contributes the following
report
"As you are no doubt aware the Swimming Bath is now
open all the year round.
"From April 1st to December 31st, 1945, the Swimming
Bath was open on 247 days, during which period 69,103 bathers
used the Bath.
