(c) TONSILS AND ADENOIDS.- No case was operated, on.-during
the year.
(d) OPHTHALMIC DEFECTS AND MINOR AILMENTS.- Children are given
treatment either at the School Clinics or by special appointment.
(e) SUNLIGHT.- 8 infants were referred for sunlight treatment
during 1943.
(f) CHILD GUIDANCE.- Arrangements have now been made for
children under 5 years of age to be referred to the Child
Guidance Clinic commenced by the Education Committee during
this year. There was one case in 1943.
(g) INVALID CHILDREN'S AID ASSOCIATION.- Miss Russell,
Secretary to the local branch of the Invalid Children's Aid
Association, kindly reports that the following cases of children
under 5 years of age were dealt with by her Association:-

ASSISTED MILK SCHEME.

The National Milk Scheme operated from July 1940 and the above
represents applications for special brands of milk not supplied
under that scheme.
HOME HELPS.
Applications for the provision of Home Helps are considered
by the Committee, and, if approved, a payment of 25/- per week
for two weeks is made. In addition to the 175 Home Helps
approved during 1943, many mothers attending the Clinic made
their own arrangements to obtain the help of suitable women
whose names were supplied by the Health Visitors. 28 applications
were rejected by the Rota Committee.
The demand for Home Helps has been as follows during the
past seven years:- 1937 (78), 1938 (178), 1939 (125), 1940 (128),
1941 <105), 1942 (140), 1943 (175).
STERILISED MATERNITY OUTFITS.
A total of 420 sets were used in the Borough and 219
outfits were issued below cost price.
