TC THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE MATERNITY
AND CHILD WELFARE COMMITTEE.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I beg to present, herewith, a report
of the work done in 1942,
The birth rote at 17.4 was the highest
since 1925, and the infant mortality rate at 40 was again
low as was the maternal mortality rate
The distribution of clothing, coupons
in effect secured the notification of pregnancy and full use
of this information was made by the Health Visitors. The
distribution of vitamins and fruit ,1uices was a measure of
first rate importance.
A wer time day nursery was opened, and
additional ante-natal clinics were necessary. The
recorded institutional confinements totalled 900
