In order to limit the spread of infection and following the
issue of the Public Shelter Rules made by the Regional
Commissioners under the Defence Regulations, a letter was addressed
to each known "open" case of pulmonary tuberculosis in the Borough
prohibiting the use of a Public Air Raid Shelter.
Any such patient not possessing a habitable domestic air raid
shelter for the sole use of the patient's own family was invited
to communicate with the Borough Engineer who had kindly agreed
to give priority to all such cases.
