The County Medical Officer has kindly furnished the following return of patients treated in the Tuberculosis Pavilion during 1941:-

Ten of the 11 admissions were whlthamstow cases.

MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS.
During the year, 13 examinations were carried out by the
M. dical Staff in respect of the Superannuation and Sick
Pay Scheme.
MISCELLANEOUS.
Mortuary.- A Coroner's Court, mortuary (with special provision
for Infectious Disease cases) and a post-mortem room is provided
by your Council at Queen's Road Cemetery.

The Cemetery Superintendent reports that the number of

inquests and post-mortems were as follows:-

CREMATION.
Facilities for cremation are available at the Crematorium
provided by the Corporation of the City of London, at Manor
Park, Little Ilford.
PREVENTION OP TUBERCULOSIS.
In order to limit the spread of infection and following the
issue of the Public Shelter Rules made by the Regional
Commissioners under the Defence Regulations, a letter was addressed
to each known "open" case of pulmonary tuberculosis in the Borough
prohibiting the use of a Public Air Raid Shelter.
Any such patient not possessing a habitable domestic air raid
shelter for the sole use of the patient's own family was invited
to communicate with the Borough Engineer who had kindly agreed
to give priority to all such cases.
