Eradication of the Bed Bug.
"This problem is still with us, unfortunately, but the tenants
are responding reasonably to the efforts of the staff called upon to
deal with this pest, when found to be prevalent.
"The number of cases treated during the year amounted to 9,
all of which we were able to treat without recourse to such drastic
methods as hydro-cyanic acid gas, now considered by the Government
to be inadvisable for use in Council houses.
Welfare Work.
"Very satisfactory progress has been made in this section of
the work, and a chapter in itself could well be written and found of
great benefit, not only to our housing estates, but to the Town
generally.
"The demands on the time and services of the Welfare Worker
are extensive to a degree, and the variety of problems submitted is
very significant.
